Social Network Marketing Part 3: What Education Non-Profits Can Do With YouTube and Google Video

If done right and depending on the audience, a video can be a much larger draw than something text based, whether it is general information you are providing, a classroom environment, or an advertisement. So now that there are google-like applications, but for videos, that can serve up information about your institution in a sophisticated, brand-building format free of charge, what are you doing about it? Sure, Google is quick and easy for many basic information searches, but there are many web surfers out there that would prefer a richer, more media rich experience when investigating many of the topics that happen to fall well within the realm of your institution's expertise. The most popular applications for the distribution of video are YouTube and Google Video. If you aren't tapping into these channels, you may be missing out on a cost effective and powerful new advertising channel that is free in most circumstances.
I recently posted a presentation on MarketinginEducation.org describing how and why to hold webinars for prospective students. As part of the presentation, I recommend that you put those webinars into a video format that can be distributed on YouTube. Another service to utilize is Google Video, for the same reason. These types of videos will attract prospective students because they will be interested in the topics you are discussing (the same reason they come to the webinars).
